    School Student Enrichment Program

    The problem: ‘The Learning Poverty’: As reported by World Bank, there is a ‘Learning crisis’ (also called ‘Learning poverty’), with 53% of 10 years old students in low and middle-income countries are unbale to read or understand a simple text.
    India is no exception. Majority of our school going young population is functionally illiterate. Students continue to add years of schooling to their portfolio, but schooling only measures ‘time served’ and not ‘skills gained’. This has been corroborated by the ASER report since 2005.

    Our goal:

    “Every child is enjoying in school and receiving training of the mind to think.”. We seek to transform the young minds to embrace change.

    Success so far:


    Some snippets of Project Abhigyan:

    a) Targeted at school students (6-18 Years), aiming to make them learn to think and inculcate within them the core attributes of Creativity, Analytical Capability, Cogent Communication & Collaboration.
    b) Impacted 7000 students (since 2016) across 17 rural vernacular medium govt. schools and private schools.
    c) Impact assessment done by Tata Group, Tata Business Excellency Model, CII team and 3rd Party Evaluator.
    d) Significant impact towards Affirmative actions, Girl child upliftment and First-generation learners and corresponding contributions to SDG #4 & #5.
    e) Collaboration partner with IIT-Kharagpur, Indian Museum etc.

  • Skill Development:

    Focus towards impactful intervention to unemployed youth or existing workmen towards enriching and enhancing their livelihood. We work with Corporate and partners who own the training infrastructure and we work on an asset light method.
    Registered with West Bengal Skill Development Body.
    Skill Training delivery – total 6000+ training.

    Workforce Development Project

    a) Workforce upskilling under RPL
    Client: Coal India
    Project Overview: To provide upskilling training for existing workforce across mines (both UG and OC), leading to NSDC certification under RPL.
    Scope : • 3570 workmen Create customized content
                 • 17 Mines across Jharkhand, Chhatisgarh, WB
    Facilitation: 35 experienced Mine managers, Senior Engineers, Technical Heads etc.
    Course duration: 5 Days, leading to SSC Certification.
    Project duration: 15 Months.

    b) HEMM Operator training
    Client: Tata Hitachi
    Project Overview: To conduct 2 weeks full time residential training of HEMM (Backhoe / Excavator) operators at Tata Hitachi training centre.
    Scope: Workmen from multiple Mine and Infrastructure companies
    Course duration: 2 weeks / batch (Residential).
    Project duration: 18 Months
  • Consulting & Program Management

    GESPL provides comprehensive research based consulting support to Corporate in creating Best in class Knowledge management, Skill gap and CSR concuslting.
    GESPL works closely with Global Consulting majors in providing large scale Program management services.

    a) Creating SSC Qualification Pack and NOS
    Client profile: Mining Sector Skill Council

    Project Overview: To carry out widespread industry interactions for and on behalf of Mining SSC. GESPL was responsible to review the occupation map; create new Qualification Packs (QP) and NOS (National Occupational Standards), carry out Industry validation and subsequent NSDC validation and approval.

    Project duration: 9 Months.

    b) Skill Gap Study
    Client Profile: Tata Metaliks Ltd.
    Project Overview: GESPL was entrusted with carrying out demographic study of youth around 50 surrounding villages in their catchment area. The study brought out their aspirations, local job demands and recommended roadmap for meaning full CSR implementation.
    Role: • Research and survey across 50000 populations
              • Map local job demands.
              • Map the youth aspirations.
              • Recommend CSR roadmap.

    c) Demographic mapping and sustainable Livelihood through Skill Training in Coal Mine Area
    GESPL carried out comprehensive study in Project Impact areas of one of the largest Coal mining organization and designed specialized Livelihood improvement interventions under their CSR program for communities in their Coal Mine area. After successful completion of Pilot Phase, the project was further extended to benefit larger number of beneficiary.
    Advisory towards CSR and Employee Volunteering Programs for Corporate employees.GESPL was engaged by a European MNC to provide end to end handholding in evolving their CSR Policy towards Employee Volunteering program for their India operation and enable participation of Mid to senior management employee. GESPL helped channelizing the Volunteers to matching NGOs / Non-profits.

    d) State Skill Mission – Program Management
    Client profile: Earnst & Young (E&Y)
    Project Overview: E&Y is the PMU (Program Management Unit) for Bihar Skill Development Mission (BSDM). GESPL is co-partner with E&Y since 2016 and has deployed a team of District Skill Managers (DSM) providing integral services across all districts of Bihar.
    Geography: All districts of Bihar.
    No. of resources: 30 District Skill Managers.
    Engagement duration: Since 2016 ongoing.
